The comment on the Facebook post, which linked to an article on minimalism, read, “Yes, your home is too big.”
This is the kind of thing that sets me off a bit. Firstly, they have no idea who is reading that particular post–and let’s be real, it can’t possibly be true of 100% of the people. It’s a minimalism page. They’re mostly preaching to the choir.
The article itself, honestly, was very thoughtful and well written. The author was encouraging people to live smaller where they were–the article, literally, encouraged people not to move but to enjoy “less” in their current home. One of their tips? Close the vents in all the rooms you’re not using.
Um….???
We have no unused rooms in this house. With a homeschooling family of five, and a husband working from home, we use this house–every inch of it. We actually do have a few vents closed, to try to funnel air to the places that need it more (the basement, with the air conditioning on in the summer, can get downright frigid). But there’s no room we’re “not using” in this place.
So…back to the original statement…maybe our home isn’t too big?
